    Brent,
We love the “Retreat” It feels like home. The children also like this place. So far so good. Second day went to Gwinn to do Jenis flowers. Stopped and saw Laughing White Fish Falls, very nice. Of course we forgot the bug spray. HA HA! Last night we canoed and had a fire in the pit. It was great. Next year we will try for more than two days. We played games and watched horror movies. The children were not scared but Dennis and I were. This is like camping my way. The men have teased me but I don't care. I love camping in AuTrain at the “Retreat”.

    See Ya next year

Northwoods Retreat was everything we wanted in a vacation. Last August we opened a coffee shop in Bloomington, Illinois and really have not had a day off from work since. Leaving the store was difficult but we adjusted as soon as we settled in. We did very little serious activities. There were so many nice touches here. We went to use the grill and having the charcoal ready was so nice. Monday we drove to Munising and stocked up on supplies. Spent the day going to Miners Falls and Chapel Beach. We had our first pasty at the Bear Trap. We were unable to figure out how to work the cable so we have started a video library for Northwoods. Tuesday we drove to Marquette and had a great breakfast at the Sweet Water. Michigan truly has the “Best” maple syrup. That afternoon we used the canoe to roam around the river. Wednesday we drove H58 to Grand Marais. That was the most beautiful drive of my life. We stopped often to take walks and enjoy the scenery. The hike along the beach to the Au Sable light house is recommended to anyone.

We would especially like to thank you for allowing us to bring our dog Caesar on vacation. We found you on www.petswelcome.com and it was the determining factor on where we would spend our time. I hope we have represented dog owners well.

We were looking for total rest and relaxation, and we truly found both at Northwoods Retreat. Your cabin is charming.

watercolor picture of flower painted at northwoods retreat left by Carol, David & Austin (click for larger version)The hiking in the area is amazing, with so many water falls, shipwrecks, light houses and wildlife to see on every trip. We were exited to see eagles, loons, a fox, deer and trumpeter swans. The Pictured Rocks are interesting, especially from our rental boat. We were also able to boat over to Grand Island to explore ship wrecks and the old light house. All of this is quite a change from Chicago! Your yard was full of flowers this week and this is heaven to a watercolor artist . I left you a picture on your fridge.

Our week was fantastic!! We were very happy with the cabin, which was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect. It was close enough for the activities we did, yet AuTrain was a quiet community. The Beach across the highway was the ideal distance for biking and paddle boating. My son built many sand castles. We had fun hiking in the Pictured Rocks National Forest and visiting the many water falls in this area.

Fishing off the back yard deck was very convenient and relaxing. We caught a variety of fish; bass, perch, bull head, sucker, and a pike “that all got away”! Of course, I had to rub it in that I, a woman, caught more fish than the two guy's combined. HA HA.

It was nice that a casino was only 8 minutes away. My mother took advantage of that
(She's not a hiker) and managed to come out ahead every time.

All-In-All, it was a wonderful and relaxing vacation. I was extremely happy with my choice in accommodations.

Thank you, Brent, for being such a pleasant host and for providing such a nice “retreat”. We will definitely recommend this cabin to others and we will be back again someday.
